I am 29 & 3 days ago had my ruptured 250cc silicone implants removed. I had small breasts before (AA) & have had my implants for 10 years. What Im now looking at is a lot of loose skin that is sitting very low, just above the scar. The upper portion of the breast is totally flat and empty and really what I'm left with just feels like empty sacks of skin. Will this tighten/lift & if so how long before I can expect to see a change. Im also in a lot of pain& can barely use my arms, is this normal?

It would be difficult to give an absolute answer of how they will turn out. It will take several months to see the final result. The answers to your questions depend on a variety of factors. How large are your implants? What is your skin like? Do you have ptosis? How long have the implants been in? This will help determine if you need a lift or not. Answer: Unlikely to see tightening Thanks for your question. Without a photo it is hard to comment completely, but the skin will not have a lot of retraction after the implant is removed. It sounds like it was not replaced and therefore the skin envelope will not have any stretch from the inside. Since the implant size was relatively small, there will be less excess. Normally by 4 weeks the pain should be under control and not require narcotic pain medication. You should discuss this with your surgeon. Best of Luck!

Answer: Your breast will look better in few weeks Pictures would have been helpful. The normal course of healing will take few weeks and I would expect that in two weeks your breasts will look very close to how they look 10 years ago. You can have fat grafting if you are not happy with your breast volume and shape. I do a lot of implant removal and fat grafting and attached link shows few exapmles.

Answer: It is difficult to predict the fate of loose skin this soon after removal of silicone implants At this early stage what you are seeing is the result of a sudden loss of volume in your breasts, leaving the emptiness and loss of projection in the upper part and the laxity and sagging of the skin. There will likely be some contraction of the tissues over time, but this may take several months to stabilize. It is impossible to predict to what degree this will happen as well, as this depends upon many factors over which we have little to no control. The best course of action at this point is to be patient, wear a good supportive bra at ALL times, and follow the recommendations of your surgeon with regard to activity closely. As far a the pain and limitation in arm activity goes, this can happen after implant removal, especially if the capsules were removed as well, and at 3 days postop this would not be unusual. Again, if you have concerns about the level of your pain it would be best to contact your surgeon so that he or she can evaluate you and make sure that everything is normal. Good luck.
