I am looking for a treatment to fade away, self harm scars on my wrist and have researched into TCA Peel for scar removal, I was wondering if this is recommended? And what percentage, as I have ordered into the 20%, 50% and 70%?
Answer: TCA can help reduce appearance of scarring. Pair with a laser to enhance results Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Medical or cosmetic tattooing is the best option Like many other Specialist on this forum I do agree that these types of scars are one of the hardest to treat. Do not attempt TCA peel - it will result in a raised scar that will take weeks to heal. Fractional lasers, RF Microneedling with or without PRP etc..etc..etc.. can all help but the improvement is minimal. IF you can feel the scars, I often use dilute steroid injections, however my advice is cosmetic tattooing. If these scars are new (red), I treat them with a vascular laser such as V BEAM. Old scars are white in colour and very difficult to improve. An experienced cosmetic tattooist would always go one shade lighter than the surrounding skin, knowing very well the appearance of self harm scars will change with tanning.
