Returning to training post FUE

Question

Hi I'm 13 days post FUE I have been told & read mixed feedback on when a person should return to weight training after a procedure anything ranging from 10 days to 2 months. Before my procedure I trained 5 days a week so I'm itching to get back to the gym. What are the risks of returning to soon?

You will get misinformation and conflicting answers because there is no absolute or right answer.  The best thing is to ask your doctor who performed your surgery.  You trusted your doctor for your surgery, you should trust your doctor's post operative care and instructions.In general most doctors say 3 weeks but it varies on the individual and doctor.

This is a great question. The fundamental issue with regard to exercise is preventing sudden changes in blood pressure that could affect the grafts. For patients who had follicular unit extraction procedures (FUE), I advise return to light cardiovascular activity at day 8 and light weights at day 11. Heavy weights at day 14.For patients who had strip surgery (FUSS), I advise return to lightcardiovascular activity at day 12 and light weights at day 15. Heavy weights at day 21. The main issue with FUSS type procedures is proper healing of the donor site.

I allow my FUE patient full training at 5 days including heavy weigh lifting. There is little damage you can do unless you hit your head so be careful when you train keeping the recipient area away from trauma.

Your doctor should discuss post op instructions after the procedure, one of which is returning to exercise routine after your surgery.  Light exercise is alright after a week ,but heavy weight lifting and heavy exercise routine is best to be done after three weeks.
