Which is better for redness - Candela V Beam, PDL or Sciton BBL?

In our office, we have several treatments that can help improve common vascular skin issues, including rosacea, post-inflammatory erythema, red scars, facial blushing, and spider veins. The Vbeam laser continues to be the gold standard for redness, including rosacea and post-inflammatory erythema. In some cases, we add Venus Viva RF coagulation to help improve redness on the skin from spider veins, inflammation, and rosacea.

Generally, several sessions are required to improve redness on the skin. Vbeam laser, IPL Limelight, and Venus Viva all work very well with minimal downtime.

Patients with rosacea may benefit from topical creams to help soothe inflamed skin. We recommend Elevase Moisture Booster. For Post-inflammatory erythema, Plato’s Scar Serum is recommended twice daily.

VBeam targets hemoglobin, the red-colored protein in blood cells, making it a great choice for treating the persistent redness related to both conditions. Bruising is a result of blood from treated capillaries essentially leaking out into the adjacent areas under the skin. You can reduce the amount of bruising by following some pre and post treatment guidelines, such as refraining from supplements that can thin your blood as well as anti-inflammatory medications and aspirin. Arnica can help, as well as icing after the procedure.

PDL and the V-beam are the same lasers essentially and BBL is filtered light source.  The PDL and also the V-beam are specific for redness.  Although both types of treatments are effective but the PDL and the V-Beam would be more specific for redness and blood vessels and maybe more effective.  Seek an experienced laser provider for a treatment.

ALL things being equal, its normally the V Beam over the IPL due to the cooling system and specific wavelength. In 10% of cases I find the BBL better. If you are treating KP, the PD has to be low, so personally I would use a 1.5- 3ms PD with the V BEAM, no hair in the way. Bruising for 3-4 days on 3ms PD.
