Is this much swelling normal with laser V Beam Perfecta for spider veins treatment? (Photos)

Question

I had v beam perfecta laser for spider veins on my nose, cheeks, and chin, the treatment was about 30 minutes by an aesthetician at my dermatologist’s office. She said I might have some bruising. This treatment was Friday. This is Sunday, 48 hours after treatment and I am so swollen! My face is enormous! When will this go away! I cannot leave my house! Of course their office is closed for the weekend.

In our office, we have several treatments that can help improve common vascular skin issues, including rosacea, post-inflammatory erythema, red scars, facial blushing, and spider veins. The Vbeam laser continues to be the gold standard for redness, including rosacea and post-inflammatory erythema. In some cases, we add Venus Viva RF coagulation to help improve redness on the skin from spider veins, inflammation, and rosacea. 
  
Generally, several sessions are required to improve redness on the skin. Vbeam laser, IPL Limelight, and Venus Viva all work very well with minimal downtime. 
  
Patients with rosacea may benefit from topical creams to help soothe inflamed skin. We recommend Elevase Moisture Booster. For Post-inflammatory erythema, Plato’s Scar Serum is recommended twice daily.

This amount of swelling can occur after a V Beam Perfecta treatment to the cheeks. Continue to ice 10min/hour and elevate the head of bed while sleeping on the back of your head on two pillows. Avoid exercise until the swelling resolves over the next day or two.

This doesn't happen with every patient; I'd say and 1 in 5 in my practice.The swelling usually last 1-2 days but can be as long as 5 days. This is related to the intensity of the treatment.Cold compress helps and the swelling invariably fully subsides.
