I had 0.55 of juvederm yesterday and today I can feel most of the filler collecting at the sides/corners of my top lip. Is it a good idea for me to push the filler towards the centre of the lip? This is where I would like more fullness.

Answer: Massaging Lip Filler Immediately after placing the filler, swelling begins. This makes it difficult to differentiate between filler collecting on the sides of your mouth or else just swelling. If there is a bruise, this will also feel like a filler bump, but it is likely just swelling from the blood and it takes at least a week to improve. We tell our patients that they can gently massage a bump toward the direction they want the filler, however, it is best to start to massage on day #2 or #3. It is important to gently massage with Vaseline or Aquaphor and avoid over aggressive (pushing too hard) or prolonged (more than 10 seconds) massaging. You can gently apply minimal pressure toward the direction you want to move the filler and then stop. The massaging will lead to more swelling so then you wont know if the massaging worked because you will swell up. Ice and arnica can help reduce swelling. Spicy food and NSAIDS (like motrin or ibuprofen) can often times lead to more swelling after lip fillers. Finally, make sure to schedule a follow up appointment 1-2 weeks after your filler with your provider.

Answer: Filler to the Lips Hi, Yes! you can massage the fillers and have some movement, especially the first day or so. I would be careful though and make sure you speak to your injector first as you can also move the filler out of the lip and undo the work you had done. Let the swelling settle down and check again with your injector. You may just want to have more filler placed. There are many options and even in the Juvederm family of fillers there is Volbella which may be perfect for that correction. Take care!
