Is the following morph possible with a sliding genioplasty, or is jaw surgery needed? (Photo)

Hi, I'd like to achieve the result in the attached morph, I'm not interested in a chin implant and I have a class one occlusion so BSSO alone won't do it... it's either sliding genioplasty, double jaw surgery or a combination. Is this really feasible with a sliding genioplasty plus HA paste for the step off and mentolabial fold, or am I expecting too much, would jaw surgery be required? Thank you for your input.

Hello sj594,Thanks for your question.With such mild malocclusion, a BSSO for the chin alone is probably not necessary.  I doubt your surgeon wants to risk such a large operation if the occlusion could be affected in other ways.  A sliding genioplasty can be quite successful in this situation.  Views of the lateral cephalograms would be helpful in seeing the underlying bony relationships.My opinion is that jaw surgery would be overkill.Good luck,Dr. Shah

yes, feasible, especially if you have a Class I occlusion. You are correct in the use of some material on the 'ledge' IF the tissue 'thickness' is minimal; in order to avoid a deepened labiomental fold
