How long until I'm up and active after a Breast reduction?

You should be able to get up and move around the next day.  Depending on how well you are healed you should be able to attend a function 2 weeks after the procedure.  Your stamina may be reduced so the length that you stay at the function may be shorter than desired.  Please ask your surgeon his or her opinion.

Congratulations on your decision to proceed with breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most pleasing operations we perform. You will find that you will be walking within one to two days after surgery. Activity will gradually increase over the course of the first one to two weeks. Your plastic surgeon will be in the best position to advise you knowing you, the operation performed, and exactly how you are progressing. You should be able to enjoy the party two weeks after surgery but may be limited in the scope of activity (dancing…) involved. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Most my patients are off pain pills within just a few days, driving a car within a week, and doing pretty normal activity within 2 weeks. Patients can begin light exercising at 3 weeks. This is just a general guideline. Make sure to talk with your surgeon and follow his or her recommendations since everyone performs the surgery differently and everyone heals differently.Good luck!

i have you up and walking the same day after a BR. i have you shower the next day. You can go up and down stairs immediately. i let you start light exercising about 2 weeks after surgery and you should be able to progress rapidly after that. you can return to work in 10-14 days. you may still be a bit tired after any major surgery for several weeks so it may be 4-6 weeks until you are 100% but you should be 85% there by the end of 3 weeks.good luckDavid Berman MD
