Areolas stretching post breast reduction? (Photo)

Question

I got a mini breast/areola reduction a month ago and originally my Areolas were very small but as this month passed by they have stretched. Will they continue to stretch? I now have large Areolas which was precisely what I was trying to avoid. I'm very upset with my results and I'm now considering an areola reduction.

It appears from your photos that you have had a peri-areolar skin reduction along with what sounds like a small reduction of the breast itself. Areolar reduction is usually followed by areolar re-expansion. It also tends to cause flattening of the breast. It is a poorly designed procedure that should be done much less often than it is. I recommend you discuss your concerns with your surgeon and, if necessary, seek another opinion. All the best.

Stretching of the areolas is unfortunately a common problem with implant placement. The larger the implant, the more the stretch.

Hello,Unfortunately, this is a common problem after circumareolar lifts, especially if a permanent suture was not use to control expansion. You've already made the mistake of opting for a 'mini reduction' that has basically left you with scars and irregularly shaped and asymmetric areola.  Don't make the same mistake twice by doing a revision, it is likely not going to work. If you really want small areolas with fine scars, you will need a traditional lift/reduction, which would eliminate the powerful forces that cause expansion of the areola, irregularity in shape, and thickened scars.Best of luck!

Areola stretching is quite common after this procedure and unfortunately it is difficult to prevent. Usually this happens pretty quickly postoperatively as the scar is healing. In your picture, you nipples appear to be quite a good size for your breasts and I would not consider revision until you have given it more time to settle and your scar tissue to heal. #PlasticSurgery #BreastReduction #Nipplestretching #Recovery

THe photos you sent show your nipple areolas to be a good size for you breasts.  Since healing is not complete yet, I would wait at least three months before deciding on revision to reduce their size.  Chances are good you will not need firther surgery.
