I had a hair transplant 9 days ago and I've noticed that when washing the area a lot of the hairs are falling out into the bath, these hair have no bulb attached. Is this normal? Or am I washing my hair and the scabs too hard? Day 9 and nearly all the scabs are gone. I've read about shedding but isn't 1 week too early to shed transplanted hairs?

Answer: Transplanted hairs may shed days to weeks after surgery. If you believe something is not right, it is best to contact your docto
I do not think having
delayed your evening meal by 2 hrs post surgery will have any effect on your
grafts.Hair is made of keratinized
protein, a delayed meal will make no difference in the hair itself or the
transplanted grafts.Maintaining a
healthy diet is always a good idea.
If
you are taking the finasteride for hair loss the usual dose is 1mg.Perhaps your prescribing doctor is treating
something in addition to the hair loss. The typical dose for BPH (enlarged prostate) is 5mgs a day.
It
is best to avoid prolonged direct sun exposure to your scalp after a hair
transplant.We send our patients home
with a cap and specific instructions to wear a cap and/or apply sun block spray
SPF 30 or greater every 2 hrs while out in the sun during the first 6 months.
