I’ve had my breast implants for a year. I noticed they are extremely spaced apart. It’s mostly only when I’m lying down on the beach in a bikini that it bothers me. Sometimes I notice in clothing or dresses it feels like I have virtually NO cleavage because of the gap. I have 375 cc High Profile implants. I’m 5’3” and about 120~lbs. Is there anything I can do to improve or reduce this that is non surgical?
Answer: Why do my breast have such a large gap/space between them? Your anatomic starting point will to some degree determine how much space will be present between your breasts after breast augmentation surgery. Other factors involved include careful breast implant pocket dissection and careful selection of breast implant size/profile. Remember (when it comes to breast implant pocket dissection and achievement of ideal breast implant cleavage) that each nipple/areola complex must be centered on each breast mound.Although some “falling to these sides” of breast implants is quite normal when you lie down, if this occurs “excessively”, it may be a concern to patients. This phenomenon is called lateral displacement of the breast implant; it may be of concern from the visual and the discomfort standpoints. Surgical correction is an option. There is no nonsurgical method to improve your outcome. My general thoughts regarding the potential need or benefits of revisionary breast surgery: I advise patients to carefully consider their degree of concern with the outcome of the initial breast surgery and weigh these concerns against the potential risks/complications associated with the planned revisionary breast surgery. For example, if the patient is concerned about her breast appearance on a daily or frequent basis, it is likely that revisionary surgery will be helpful when it comes to improving her quality of life. On the other hand, if the patient's degree of concern seems minor and/or she is infrequently concerned about the areas of concern, I would recommend against revisionary breast surgery. Best wishes.

Answer: Gap between implants Dear YourstrulyX, I get this problem all of the time. Typically, its from women who went with high profile implants. This is a problem because while they project more, they are narrow at the base and can have widening effect on cleavage. The second most common problem is incomplete release of the pectoralis muscle medially. Many surgeons don't take the time to make this right. If you're not happy with your results I would suggest you to discuss it with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Why do my breast have such a large gap/space between them? Thank you for sharing your question. Spacing between implants is typically limited by the width of the patient's breast bone, especially if the implants were placed beneath your muscle. I would be seen by your surgeon to assess the possibility of implant malposition since it typically occurs when you are laying down. A revision surgery can help correct this condition, compared to whether it is your breast bone. Hope this helps.
