I would really like your professional opinion on combined procedure. Since the incision for both need to be made under the nose, is there a risk of too much lip lift. What are the risks of getting two procedures done at once? Can both be done under local anaesthesia, what would be the lenght of the operation then, and what do I need to be clear about with my surgeon ?

Answer: Alar base reduction and lip lift Thank you for your question. Yes, they can both be performed at the same time safely. They can also both be performed under local. Length of procedure varies, but you could expect about 1-2 hours of operative time (there is a lot of meticulous suturing). You and your surgeon need to make sure you are both on the same page about the plan and the desired results. You also need to have a full understanding of the risks and expected outcome.

Answer: Alar base reduction and subnasal lip lift I have never done this combination of procedues. I do not think it wise to do these two procedures in the same sitting as one pulls the sidewalls of the nose in and the other pulls that area out. I would think it wiser to have the alar base reduction done first unless there is a greater need for the upper lip lift. However, I would defer to the experince of those who have done anumber of these combined and have been successfull.
