If you are having issues after your surgery, it is best to contact your doctor for a follow up and recheck. If you have extensive scabbing you may not be washing your hair well enough
Thanks for the photo. Important is what the clinic / surgeon advised to you in the post op instructions. You should check again or if you do not have any written instructions you should get in touch with your clinic / surgeon about the issue. All the Best...
Yes, it is normal for the scabs not to fall out at this time. Typically, scabs just don't fall out naturally. However, you have to be careful and slowly and carefully remove the scabs. The best way to do it is by day 10, you can gently rinse your hair with water. Then take conditioner in your hand and gently apply to the top of your scalp and let the conditioner sit for 5-7 minutes. This softens the scabs then use your finger pads, not your nails, to gently massage the area then rinse over. Do this for few days and all your scabs will gradually fall off without damaging the grafts.
It is normal to have scabbing and dryness 8 days post op from a FUE Hair Restoration procedure. Continue to follow your doctor's post op instructions and check with your surgeon for treatment.
Perhaps you can consider soaking in a tub for 10-15 minutes to loosen up the scabs. Also, consult your post operative instructions as most doctors recommend normal hair washing at day 8 after a transplant. Standing underneath the direct shower stream will also help to moisten the area & loosen the scabs.
It is important that you follow you doctors post operative instructions as they vary from physician to physician. However, After a week I encourage my patients to resume normal hair washing. They may also use the pads of their fingers to gently massage the grafted area. You may also soak your head a tub to soften up some of the scabs.
I don't like the idea of anyone removing grafts that have scabs on them because we have published a paper in a formal medical journal, that when a person pulls off a scab (crust) from a recipient area in less than 12 days, the risk of losing the graft is very high. Now you must leave the shampoo followed by the conditioner on for at least 30 minutes to accelerate the shedding of the crust. These should have come off on day one
After a hair transplantation we give our patients a file with instructions about what and how to proceed. Your head looks dry and still nearly all the scabs are not fallen off. You should contact your surgeon/clinic and ask for details. All the best...
This is a great question, typically by 4 weeks you can use hair dyes and hair sprays without damaging your hair follicles.
