I am having a breast augmentation jan 2018 but feel like I might be going too big for my body? I saw two different surgeons and both surgeons suggested 500cc high profile over the muscle, I currently wear a 32/34 B cup and would like to be a full DD/E cup. But after reading reviews and looking at other women’s pictures I’m scared that 500cc would sag on me and be too big and heavy but I also don’t want to regret going too small. I am 5ft6 and weigh 9 stone 6, I am 21 years old with no children.
Answer: Breast augmentation Hello and thank you for your question. You are a great candidate for a breast augmentation. 500cc is a large implant. There are several advantages and disadvantages to over vs under the muscle. Under the muscle has the advantage of lower capsular contracture rates, less risk of rippling, and better visualization with future mammograms. Most patients say that under the muscle also has a more natural look and feel. The size, shape, and profile of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Is 500cc too big for me? 21 years old 32B It would be hard to determine which implant size would be best for you without an in-person examination. Implant size and shape are based on your chest wall measurements, your skin elasticity and your desired look. Your surgeon would know best about your condition so she would be the one you would want to discuss this with.

Answer: Is 500cc too big for me? 21 years old 32B Congratulations on your plan for breast augmentation. If you are concerned to 500 cc will be too big then it probably will. I would urge to revisit your plastic surgeon and do another sizing evaluation. You can also try the Rice test at home to see how 500 cc will look on you. I would be concerned about sagging with 500 cc implants placed on top of the muscle. There are very many benefits to placing the implant underneath your chest muscle including a reduced chance of capsular contracture and less chance of sagging.

Answer: Breast implant sizing hi, I hear your concerns, but if you got the same response from two PS the 500 cc should be ok for you, as they have examined you in person. You have a broad chest and the footprint of the existing breast is quite wide (well at least in the photos you have submitted) that probably justifies the size selection. Besides if they are going below muscle then you are getting an effect of about 420 to 450 cc behind the breast implant, as the muscle reduces the forward push a bit. I understand your concerns about the weight, as you will be loading your chest with 1 KG for life this will have implications on your muscle balance to an extent, but also can cause early sagging of the breasts if the skin quality is not good. I am sorry but there is no easy answer to these questions, in the end it is a choice you make based on all the information you have gathered and the relationship of trust you develop with your PS... warm regards and keep me posted Dr Prashant Murugkar

Answer: Yes, yes it is... I'm sorry if what I say is not what you want to hear but I think the size you are asking for is ridiculous. An implant that big, above the muscle is going to look great! -- for about 2 years. Then it will sag. And you will need a lift. And it will sag again. And then you will have the implant replaced under the muscle and have another lift. Now you've spent about $30,000 in 15yrs on your implants. I've seen it a million times. I'd recommend and implant around 400-425cc, HP under the muscle. That would give you a much better long term result. Please discuss with your surgeon. Good luck.
