It is normal to lose transplanted hairs days to weeks after surgery. It may take 6 to 12 months to see new hairs grow out.
Most hairs fall out within 7 to 28 days. The grayish crusts that remains are not grafts, but are devitalized remnants. They are no longer of any use and after 10 days post surgery may be scrubbed off the scalp without fear of loss of grafts.
Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx. %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent.
Thank you for the post and question. It is very common post hair restoration, that the transplanted hairs/grafts will start to shed. Normally they start to shed around day 7 to day 10. By 1 month post procedure, the grafts should completelly have fallen. Starting 3 to 4 months, is when you should notice new hairs sprouting at a rate of 10 to 15%. Hope this helps.
Most people shed the grafts starting on the first few days. They may noticewhitish crusts that look like grafts after washing and may even see these on the scalp afterwashing. These whitish bumps are grafts that have taken on a bit of water in the skin of thegrafts, just like your finger get water-logged after you swim for a while. These crusts/graftswill shed over the next 3-4 weeks. IF have significant crusting, you did not do the correctwash immediately after the surgery as you should not have any significant crusts by the first3-4 days.
