I had a procedure about 1 month ago. I am concerned that my donor area has been damaged as I have a huge patch on one side - where there is not much growth. I also went to the doctor because I had a lot of red spots on my head and was itching like crazy - he prescribed me some antibiotics and this has helped. But generally is the donor area supposed to look like this. I am really ancious

Answer: Donor area Your donor area may show some donor site depletion from the FUE. This is not unusual if you had many grafts taken. African American hair is generally low density so that the number of harvest-able FUE grafts are often limited.

Answer: Donor Area Should Not Look Like That Donor area should not look like that. I assume by procedure you had a hair transplant with follicular unit excision (FUE). The area appears thin and most likely appearance is due to over-harvesting. Some individuals will exhibit some shock loss and this has a better chance of regrowing. Most full-time hair restoration surgeons will not perform FUE on curly hair as the transection rate and graft failure is too high resulting in less than optimal results.
