1 week post lipo uneven love handles (Photo)

After only a week, it is still too early to tell what your results will be.  You could be experiencing some swelling, which is perfectly normal after a procedure such as liposuction.  You can expect to continue to see some changes in appearance as far out as six to nine months from your surgery.

Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question. 1 week is definitely too soon to get an idea of what the final result will be. I tell my patients that immediately after surgery they may not see any difference and in some cases may even feel like they look bigger than before! I tell them to be patient and in 2-3 weeks they will start to see a difference and then every month that goes by they will shrink more and more! In about 6 months you will have a really good idea of what the final result may look like but the true final result will seen in 1 year after surgery. I also tell my patients that some of the differences seen before surgery may be there after. If one side is bigger before then it may be bigger after but measures are taken to compensate for this. Bottom line is to give it some time. Voice your concerns with your plastic surgeon and see if they have any other recommendations. Hope this helps.Ankur Mehta MD

You are swollen at this time but it looks as if your hips are different on each side. I suggest you see an expert and follow a detailed post operative protocol.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thanks for your question. One week post op is far too early to see or be concerned with the results of your liposuction procedure. You are undoubtedly swollen (and swelling can increase and decrease throughout the day). You may wear a compression garment to reduce the swelling if you wish (however the garment has no bearing on your final surgical result).  Depending on the type of liposuction performed, it can be 6-12 months before you see your final result, so be patient.Best wishes in your recovery.

Thank you for your question. You are still very early in the post - operative recovery period. Swelling may be asymmetric and will gradually subside over the next three to six months. You may wear a compression garment over the next several months to help decrease swelling. Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.
