I had liposuction for my inner outer thighs knees calves and ankles 6 weeks ago. I am worried if they are not slim enough now. How long does it really take to see my final results? And what about if I didnot use a garment after the surgery (I couldnot) is that ok! My surgeon said I don't have to just sport legging is just fine. What about the swelling, how long does it take to completely go away? Thank you
Answer: Lower leg lipo Thanks for the question, I tell patients they won't see results below the knee for 6 months, its the farthest from the heart and the hardest for swelling and scar tissue to be drained

Answer: Swelling after Liposuction--After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen I recommend following your Doctor's protocol regarding to compression. Your swelling can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Swelling after liposuction Thank you for the question! It is rather difficult to fully evaluate your situation without an in-person exam. That being said, you shouldn't expect to observe your final results at 6 weeks post-op. It's not uncommon to experience some swelling during this period. Typically, it takes 2-3 weeks for most bruising and postoperative discomfort to resolve, and additional 3-6 months for swelling to completely subside. Give it some time. Considering that you had your procedure done fairly recently, I don't think you have major reasons to be concerned. Compression garments tend to promote better healing by alleviating swelling, but they will not make a difference to your final results. An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to assess your situation and guarantee an individualized medical advice. Best of luck!

Answer: Lower extremity swelling at 6 weeks A nice rule of thumb for liposuction is that you see about 75% or your results at 3 months. It can often take 9 months to get 100% of your result. When doing lower legs, calves and ankles however swelling hangs around longer then tummy or back liposuction. The fact that the legs are the lowest part of our body makes swelling hang around longer there then other parts of the body. Garments help squeeze that swelling out. While this time of year makes it tough in Arizona to wear extra layers of clothes (not the coolest state in the union) you might try some mild thigh high compression hose from the grocery store for even mild compression will help with the swelling. Good luck with your recovery.

Answer: Liposuction. Thank you for asking the question. The area of the calves, thighs and inner-thighs tend to be anti-gravity areas; which means that most of the body-stress is taken on these segment of the body and consequently the swelling which last in this sector is more as compared to abdomen or the arm. Also liposuction on these areas tends to cause significant lymphatic injury; which contributes to further swelling. Therefore, often it can take over 3 months and sometimes 6 months to achieve the best visible result. So, at 2 months we suggest that you should be just wearing the pressure garment. Consider use of massages on a regular basis to achieve a faster recovery. If you have concern then you also seek an opinion that the Plastic surgeon who has done the surgery for you. Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta
