Can I do Lipo 360 with the rectus muscle plication, then after the abdominal wall repair: instead of pulling the skin down, only remove skin that sits below the belly button? So effectively, a “full tummy tuck” but without pulling the skin down that’s above the belly button, just below it. I did lipo in 2013 of abs & flanks, but to avoid loose skin, some fat around the lower waist was strategically left. So upper part of abdomen is not fatty, but lower is. Possible?
Answer: Tummy Tuck without Touching Upper Abdomen Hi and thank you for your question regarding if you can get a tummy tuck with muscle repair and liposuction with the skin only the skin below the belly button resected. I can tell you that the procedure you're describing is a variation of the traditional tummy tuck, but it's important to understand that each patient's situation is unique, and the surgical approach must be tailored to individual needs and goals. Lipo 360 with rectus muscle plication, or repair, involves liposuction of the entire abdominal area along with tightening of the abdominal muscles. Combining this with a partial skin excision only below the belly button is possible, but its effectiveness will depend on the extent of skin laxity and your desired outcome. In some cases, a modified tummy tuck or a mini tummy tuck can achieve the desired results without removing skin above the belly button. However, it's crucial to have a thorough consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine the best surgical approach for your specific case. During your consultation, your surgeon will assess your individual goals, examine your abdominal area, and discuss your surgical options. Based on this evaluation, they can recommend the most appropriate procedure to address your concerns and achieve the desired results. Remember that each patient's anatomy and surgical goals are unique, so the best approach will vary from person to person. If you are getting muscle repair, the abdomen will have to be dissected up to the sternum to give proper plication. I wonder why you don't want your upper abdomen touched (I understand it's not fatty). Please seek a board-certified plastic surgeon and thoroughly discuss your concerns with him/her. Thank you for your question and I wish you the best of luck. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Abdomen What you are describing is a mini tuck, and it can be done. Only skin below the belly button is pulled down with the excess removed, and the lower half of the abdominal muscles are tightened.

Answer: Mini tummy tuck You are somewhat describing a mini tummy tuck in your description. Some liposuction can be added for further contouring. The best way to determine if you are a candidate is to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation. I've also included a video that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Can I do full lipo with full plication but with a mini tt? Interesting……... Can’t really say without photos or evaluation but some patients might qualify. That said, even if they do qualify, it would probably not their best option. If you are interested in having full tt results WITHOUT A BELLY BUTTON SCAR… it is almost impossible. Maybe a mini tt plus an inverted mini tt both with muscle repair. Send some photos for an evaluation to see if this is a good option for you. Best wishes, Dr. Miguel Mota
