Answer: Liposuction irregularities Based on your photos you need a high-def lipo and body contouring to address the issue. The definitive correction for liposuction deformities requires the advanced technology of ultrasound-assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I encounter suboptimal liposuction outcome referrals weekly. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently corrected liposuction-caused deformities. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of the severity of contour irregularities by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. Finally, when skin redundancy irregularities are observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Correcting poorly done liposuction Delivering consistent quality results with Liposuction is far more difficult than most people believe it. For that reason patients need to put serious effort into properly vetting plastic surgeons to find the most talented and experience provider in your community.Simply being a board certified plastic surgeon with overall good reputation is insufficient to confirm someone has mastered this procedure. Almost all plastic surgeons will tell you they do a lot of liposuction and are good at it. The results speak otherwise. For Primary Liposuction I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations. During the consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures for the anatomic areas you’re interested in having treated. Simply seeing a handful of preselected pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like. This is why patients need to be advocates and push providers to open up their portfolio and show as many pictures as possible. Ask the provider to show as many pictures as possible of patients with similar body characteristics to your own. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures for these common procedures. Highly experienced providers will have hundreds or even thousands of before and after pictures to choose from. Ask the provider to show you examples of excellent outcome, average outcomes and less than outcomes to get a range. Unless this was your providers first time doing liposuction is not their first time getting a bad outcome. Now, revision Liposuction is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction so the importance of finding the most talented and experienced provider is even more important. If that’s the best your provider could do with a primary procedure and they do not have the skills to do Revision Work. The process is the same. Continue having consultations until you feel like you found the most talented provider. There are no great treatment options to correct poorly done Liposuction. Liposuction it is a permanent and more or less irreversible procedure. Potential treatment options are revision liposuction, fat transfer, a combination of both or sometimes cutting out the worst area converting it to a skin tightening procedure like an arm lift or a tummy tuck. None of these are great options. Some improvement can probably be had if you’re in the hands of a talented provider. It will probably take more than one operation. Likewise your results can easily be made worse if you’re in the hands of someone who likes appropriate skill and experience. There is no easy fix. Avoid providers who claim this is simple to fix or that some certain technology or high energy device for example VASER will somehow magically break up the scar tissue. In the end your surgeon is responsible for the outcome and you are responsible for choosing that surgeon. I suggest writing an honest and professional review about your experience so other patients can know what your experience was like. What do you opt to have another procedure or not if you do it’s going to take some work to find the most qualified provider. The process cannot be done on a computer and it cannot be done with virtual consultations. It requires multiple in person consultations. These are difficult cases and some providers may be reluctant take take on other providers bad work. Revision work is extremely time-consuming, a lot of patience and up not scheduling surgery and the number of questions and follow up questions seem to go on ad infinitum. A follow up with your provider is mandatory so that he or she at least is aware of the results they’re leaving so they can either stop doing liposuction or minimum try to get some training or learn how to do the procedure properly. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
