Lip lift swelling - 3 weeks post op (Photo)

Sorry that you are having such concerns.The lip lift will give a bit of incisor show following the surgery as this does lift the central portion of the lip. It depends on the sides of your lips before surgery and how much of a downward slant they had as to whether this will result in more of the incisor showing (bunny teeth).The swelling is still likely to settle as it is only 3 weeks from surgery. Gravity has an effect here so from your scar down to your lips, this area will be swollen. The scarring here will also change over the next month or so. You can massage the scar to help soften it but even if you didnt do this,it would heal without being too noticeable. Earlier in the healing period, the scar will be red and raised and this will slowly resolve. Massaging it daily will help to speed up the softening process but will inadvertantly make the area red as you massage. The area will also become red as soon as the sun hits it and this will be the case up to 6 months following surgery until the scar has matured. You would need to wear high protection creams to help to reduce this effect.I would sugest massaging after 4 weeks as the wounds are not at their optimum strength till then and there is a risk of stretching the scar if you massage it too early and too aggressively. Let your body settle and heal and contact your PS if you have any concerns. They will be able to give you the mst appropriate advice as they have operated on you and know how much was removed. I hope this is helful for you.BW

Swelling should subside within 1-2 weeks and tightness should diminish within a few months. Mild discomfort may occur but should not hinder day-to-day tasks. The lip will be a little higher than when it settle into position.

Hi Sol32476, At 3 weeks post op, you are still quite swollen, but with lip lift procedure, whether bullhorn or central lip lift, the lips always drops a certain degree during the healing period.
