I'd like to get my horrible teeth extracted and replaced with all on four or implant secured dentures?

I think your quality of life has been suffering for a long time. It is time to move forward to improve your health. You will be very happy with the improvement of your health. The All on 4 has had a great success rate since it became popular back in the early 2000s. I really think that it is a better option than any prosthesis that the dentist could fabricate to replace the edentulous arch. I know that your health will improve dramatically once those diseased teeth have been removed. And you will have a major upgrade in your quality of life.

Who is a candidate for All-On-4?
ALL of the concerns that you mention concerning dentures are true. And, yes, implants do prevent all of these potential problems. 
You should first find out how much jawbone you currently have by consulting with a qualified implant dentist. In nearly all cases, even if you don’t currently have enough jaw bone, a procedure called a graft can be done that will give you enough bone to be a very good candidate.

I have been practicing as an implant surgeon for over 20 years. I've seen this, done that! Placed close to 20,000 implants in thousands of patients. I've also salvaged many implants over the years in patients treated elsewhere. What I can tell you is that all on 4 is a compromised treatment option for people who are trying to save money. Except that you are spending too much money on this treatment and it's not worth it. Chances of failure are high due to over reliance on four implants (insufficient for a fixed case). One implant fails and the case fails and you need to start over. Better off with dentures on a couple implants and save your money. 

Having horrible is different than having unhealthy teeth.If you dont like your smile there are always ways to give you the smile you have ever wanted with orthodontics and prosthetic dentistry, n case your teeth have severe periodontal problems or severe caries then it would be viable to explore tha possibility of getting them extracted and replaced by a implant supported prosthesis that would give you good function and esthetics.Please don't take a step like that without consulting with a specialist, preferably a prosthodontist that can explore the different options you might have to get that smile you want.

Everyone deserves a smile that they are proud of. I'd suggest to have a consult with an aesthetic dentist in your area who is also known to have experience with implant cases. The first step should be to determine how many teeth are healthy that could be saved and how many spaces are left. Then the dentist will discuss options of what may be done to reconstruct your smile to make you feel your smile is beautiful again.If none or only few of your teeth are salvageable as you first mentioned, an All-on-Four prosthesis, or implant retained denture (snap-on-denture) are great options. They both will help to limit bone loss in the areas of the implants. The All-on-Four concept is generally that 4 implants hold the entire arch of teeth. They are fixed like natural teeth. The All-on-Four is an advanced technique that not all dentists perform. Potential issues with all on four happen in patients with high smile lines which could cause them to show the implant connection upon smiling. Also, because the teeth are cantilevered off the implants, some patients bites can overstress the implants. Implant retained dentures are dentures which are removable but retain well in the mouth. They do not need to completely cover the palate which is a great advantage over traditional dentures in feeling more natural and ability to keep it clean. They typically do not have any abnormal scent as you mentioned you were concerned about. Downsides with implant retained dentures are typically related to the removable aspect of having to take an appliance out of your mouth to clean it/soak it. The connections on the under surface of the denture need to be replaced every 1-2 years which is a minor process.Hope this helps to give some more insight. If teeth must come out, they must come out.  All you state about dentures is true, so the decision is not taken lightly.  Dentures are a replacement for lack of teeth, not a replacement for teeth.  Implants can do wonders, but they aren't teeth.  All on four is great, and the Deutsch Removable Bridge is a great alternative between dentures and a fixed bridge.

All on 4, or all on 6, can be done in your mouth if you are a candidate. With an x-ray ,and clinical evaluation, you can have a much better idea of the type of reconstructive alternatives you might have. The Snap On Dentures could be an option as well, it all depends in your bone condition and in what you are looking for, either fixed or removable bar.
