We use a compounded 30% numbing cream that makes all our procedures painless. I always combine microneedling with prp and lasers to get best outcomes. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello and thank you for your question. We use a prescription strength topical numbing cream that is compounded for our practice which is a combination of Benzocaine, Lidocaine, and Tetracaine. The patient numbs 30 minutes before the microneedling treatment begins. This allows the patient to remain comfortable throughout the entire microneedling treatment. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is recommended with all microneedling treatments to speed up the healing process and to achieve optimal results.Best to you,
Hello and thank you for your question! In our office, we use a topical numbing cream that we have compounded which consists of Benzocaine (20%), Lidocaine (6%), and Tetracaine (4%). We apply this topical numbing cream for 30-45 minutes prior to the treatment. With this topical numbing cream, patients are comfortable throughout the microneedling treatment. We also use this for our ResurFX, CO2 laser and dermal filler treatments as well.
Good afternoon and thank you for your question! There are different variations of numbing cream that can be compounded for different procedures. For microneedling we use a compounded BLT (benzocaine/lidocaine/tetracaine) cream in a 20% / 8% / 4% ratio respectively. It makes the patient feel much more comfortable during treatments like microneedling and laser. Best of luck! For more information, please feel free to visit our website!
We used 7% Lidocaine 7% Tetracaine ointment in office and this seems to work well for microneedling.

I recommend following up with your practitioner about after care. You may have some redness which is due to the histamine release. I find adding PRP decreases redness more quickly and we like to do microneedling with lasers to get better outcomes. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi SR2018. Depending on how aggressive the procedure is, you may be able to work out the next day or have to take a few days off. It's normally about how the face looks and going out in public vs. a medical reason for not working out. Infection is one concern, but we usually pretreat our pa...
