Hi Improve. If you want to improve under eye skin and have already have fillers, your best bet is not microneedling, but rather a CO2 or Erbium lasers resurfacing. The benefit of these is that we get to use a function called "coagulation" which leads to tightening of the skin. In addition, the nature of fractional resurfacing is that it removes tiny pieces of tissue with then have to be replaced with new collagen. This is in contrast to microneedling, which causes trauma and a healing response, but removes no tissue and uses no heat. A Sciton Profractional Erbium is safe for darker skin typos and has all the benefits mentioned above that yield better results for fractional resurfacing than microneedling. Best of luck.
Yes, microneedling/prp is good for rejuvenation and can be used on darker skin. I always combine microneedling/prp with lasers to improve long term outcomes. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Microneedling with PRP is a wonderful procedure. We see an improvement in crepey skin, fine lines and wrinkles and overall tone and texture. It is safe for darker skin types. However, because post procedure inflammation can result in hyperpigmentation, it is best to not have an overly aggressive treatment. Also, preparing the skin prior to the procedure is of benefit. Going into the procedure with hydrated and healthy skin will improve the recovery time and the results.
Microneedling with PRP would be a good option to smooth the crepy skin under the eyes especially in patients with darker skin tones.Slight swelling and mild erythema might be noted for a few days. Recovery time is usually minimal. Other option would include laser resurfacing but the practioner should be very experienced as hypo or hyperpigmenation could occur with your skin tone. Microtox (small doses of botox and/or filler) can be used to treat this area with nice results. The results of microtox last about 3-4 months.
Hello and thank you for your question.Microneedling with PRP is an excellent treatment for all skin types to strengthen, smooth and tighten the delicate skin to the eye area. Healing can take 3-4 days when following your post care instructions.Enjoy your treatment!
Given the thin nature of the lower eyelids, the microneedling depth must be lower for the lower eyelids, especially in darker skin patients to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation although the risk is still very low. Recovery is anywhere between 1-5 days depending on the depth and number of passes of treatment. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Microneedling combined with PRP is a good treatment options for improving the quality of skin by stimulating collagen production. In my experience, it does help around the eyes particularly when combined with other treatments such as Botox or Dysport for dynamic lines and wrinkles (i.e. crow's feet), HA fillers for volume loss and good skincare topicals.
Thanks for writing,I believe that micro-needling works very well and is a good collagen stimulant. The results will take weeks to months to show. Typically we use a series of three treatment one month apart. There are many devices, some are medical and some are not. We have the ability to change the depth of needle penetration, which I find very important as different parts of the face have different thickness and quality of skin. The "PRP", I have a little trouble with, as when skin is needled the tissues will ooze and guess what come out plasma / serum. So maybe we produce, at the wound / needling site, our own PRP and you as a patient don't have to pay the extra dollars. I am also not certain it makes any difference. Good LuckStephen M. Microneedling on a low speed and needle depth would be a helpful treatment to address skin texture and fine lines and wrinkle around the eyes. I would not encourage anything to do be done to the eyelid or skin directly over the eye ball. The skin under the eye, out in the "crows" area and up along the orbital bone would be beneficial. Without seeing a picture of you skin it is hard to say a specific treatment or treatment plan for you. I would encourage you to get a consulation with a medical spa or doctors office that does microneedling. A treatment my office offers is called Fractora by Inmode. This is a common treatment we use to address facial rejuvenation, fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin texture. There is a 60 pin tip that is specifically designed to treat around the eyes and lip area to address those fine lines that can form in these areas. In regards to darker skin types, there is a risk of PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) that can occur when there is irritation to the skin. Skin of color has more pigment (melanin) so there is an increase risk of PIH to occur. I encourage you to work with a doctor or aesthetician who has experience working with darker skin tones.Best wishes to flawless under eye skin

Hello, and thank you for sharing your question. While there’s no real downtime after microneedling with PRP, your skin will likely be red and a bit swollen or bruised directly after your appointment, so it’s best to avoid very strenuous physical activity for around 24 hours. However, check wit...
