Individuals who have issues with their jaw line or the formation of a double chin especially at an early age tend to have issues related to the shape and size of their mandible. I think overall your jaw line is quite good and facial asymmetry is normal. Your degree of asymmetry is not any greater than average people. Well then Liposuction can give nice improvements. Even if the problem is based on bone structure liposuction can be a good alternative for some individuals. The shape and size of the mandible determines how the underlying platysma muscle drapes the neck. Typically individuals with ideal jaw lines and no double chin have large projecting Mandibles. Increased vertical heights of your mandible can be achieved with a sliding genioplasty, placement of an implant or the use of fillers. Any of those treatments would be acceptable including Liposuction. For any permanent or semi permanent procedure I recommend patients choose plastic surgeons carefully. Do you saw my having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation bring pictures of your own face for comparisons. ask each provider to show their entire collection a before and after pictures for the procedure you’re interested in. Ask them to specifically show you as many pictures as possible of previous patients went very similar facial characteristics to your own. Being shown a handful of sample pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like or how much experience each provider actually has. For reference I think an experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures. There’s no correct number of consultations patients need to have to find the right provider. I suggest patient start with at least five consultations and continue scheduling more unless they feel very certain they found one of the more talented and experience providers for the procedure you’re interested in. To get an accurate assessment and to properly vet plastic surgeons I suggest avoiding virtual consultations and recommend patients not travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. Working on his fillers it’s a bit easier since they are temporary and in many ways more precise, more predictable and very forgiving. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
