If localized DeepFX treatment causes too much contraction/tightening, pulling down the cheek, would that be something permanent?

If you would treat an area of skin between your cheek and mouth (i.e. for a scar) with deepfx CO2 laser. And the subsequent contraction and tightening would be too much, causing your cheek to be pulled down and look flat. Would this undesired effect be something permanent? Or would your skin and cheek eventually return to its pre-treatment state over time, when the effect of the laser wears off?
