Yes, you can have IPL while taking Zoloft. Keep in mind, laser results can take several weeks to settle and sometimes take a series of treatments to get improvement. I suggest adding microneedling/prp to improve skin quality and tone. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Facial veins in our practice are treated based on the size. Very small ones can be successfully treated with IPL even if you are on zoloft. Bigger ones we treat with sclerotherapy and the real large ones can sometimes be removed with small stab incisions.
Thanks for your question. Zoloft should not have any adverse effects upon IPL treatments. Please follow your providers advice and avoid sun exposure pre and post treatment. Best of luck!
I am not aware of any specific contraindications of receiving IPL treatments while on Zoloft. Intense Pulsed Light treatments are safe and effective for treating unwanted pigmentation and small veins and redness. I hope you get the results you are looking for with this treatment. Good luck!
Thank you for your question vix2016. I understand your concern. An IPL photofacial is anoutstanding treatment for facial rejuvenation. It works by using bright lightto target and destroy pigment and redness in the skin. It is difficult to make an assessment without aformal exam in the office where I can directly view the skin. However, I hopethe information provided here is useful.Certain medications increase a person's sensitivity to light. These are called photosensitisers. If exposed to sunlight or other forms of light such as intense pulsed light (IPL) a person may develop a rash, tan, sunburn, itching, swelling, peeling, or other unwanted response. It can also increase the risk of skin cancer, cause allergic reactions, and lead to premature aging of the skin in the form of wrinkles, discolorations, and redness and broken capillaries. Zoloft (sertraline) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. This medication is not known to cause photosensitivity. However, other antidepressants such as tricyclic antidepressants are known to cause photosensitivity. Please consult with a doctor for specificrecommendations. Good luck!
HiThanks for your question.Taking Zoloft should not affect your IPL treatments but you will need to make sure you protect your skin with a physical sunscreen before and definitely after IPL treatments.
The usual thing that is seen on the face is telangiectasia, small abnormal vessels, not really veins, over the cheeks, though they are frequently also on the nose, forehead and elsewhere. They usually appear red, but can be somewhat bluish. These are caused by sun exposure. Small congenital veins are sometimes seen. The IPL is excellent for the former and may treat the latter also. No matter what the cause, you should be wearing a good zinc oxide sunblock daily to reduce the chance of more vessels developing. Other UVA sunscreens also work but are very impractical since they require reapplication hourly. Zoloft should not effect the IPL.

Hi and thank you for your question! As long as the healing process following the surgery is completed and you are otherwise a candidate for IPL, there is no restriction on doing IPL following rhinoplasty. I hope it helps and good luck!
