Can I Have Laser Treatment For Spider Veins On My Legs While Taking Accutane?

I do perform sclerotherapy on the lower extremities in patients taking accutane.I do not perform laser resurfacing or chemical peels on patients who have been on Accutane. I recommend that they stop for six months for such procedures on the face. 

Yes.  Spider vein treatment with laser or Sclerotherapy is perfectly safe while taking Accutane.  Patients on Accutane should avoid laser resurfacing type procedures on the face while taking Accutane and for at least 6 months after completing Accutane therapy.

If you are on accutane you should avoid any procedure that possibly can burn the skin epithelium.

There is enough data in the litarature that accutane delays epithelialization and delays wound healing.

While the risk is likely not substanstanial there are a handful of reports of slow healing or increased scarring when people have procedures like chemical peels, dermabrasion, and lasers while on accutane or shortly after completing the course. Because of those reports I recommend that my patients have nothing done while taking Accutane and for 6 months post treatment.  Unfortunately Accutane stays in your system for 1 month following treatment so it would still be lingering if you just decided to skip the week before your laser treatment. The bottom line is you don't want to chance poor results when you are looking to improve it.
