Congratulations on your recent tummy tuck surgery. Typically patients can resume all activities around 6-8 weeks after a surgery, including sleeping anyway you prefer. If you notice any unusual swelling or increased discomfort, call your plastic surgeons office. Good luck.
Thank you for your question! At 6 weeks post op, you should be able to lay flat on your stomach. I recommend discussing specific post op questions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!
I would suggest it is safe at 6 weeks to lay on your stomach.Different surgeons have different post op instructions. I would suggest following the instructions your surgeon provided you. If you have any questions please address it with your surgeon.
Hello and thank you for your question! After 6-8 weeks from a tummy tuck you should be able to slowly work up to all normal activities (except ab workouts which I let my patients resume at 3 months.) This includes laying on your stomach. It may not be easy at first and may feel really tight or you may not be able to lay for too long on your stomach but I let my patients slowly work up to that point starting at 6 weeks. This is definitely something you should ask YOUR surgeons opinion on however! Hope this helps and congrats on your recent surgery!Ankur Mehta MDBoard Certified by The American Board of Plastic SurgeryInstagram: @ankurmehtamd
Hello! Six weeks is a good amount of time postoperatively. As long as you have healed well, you should be fine to sleep in whatever position you prefer. You may want to run this by your surgeon.Best of luck!
At 6 weeks it should be safe to lay on your stomach but surgeons often have different opinions so it's probably best if you discuss this with your own surgeon before actually laying on it.
During recovery, you do not want to place a strain on your incision, Most of the time the incision is healed by 4 to 6 weeks. Check with the PS who performed your TT to determine if he/she would approve sleeping on your stomach at this time. Many of my patients have used a holo or inflatable maternity pillow raft with a hole for resting their tummies.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Congratulations on your surgery! Typically 6 weeks after surgery you can resume laying on your stomach. It is always best though to check with your surgeon who is most familiar with how you have been progressing through recovery.
If you are 6 weeks after your tummy tuck surgery, you should be able to lay on your tummy. It is more difficult the first few weeks, because the suture line is tight as are the muscles that have been tightened.
Great question, and one of the most common! It is advised that patients avoid trying to lay on their stomach for at least 6 weeks after surgery. You do not want to place strain on the incision area and cause any complications. Best wishes and congratulations on your recent surgery!

You are very early in the healing process and still have swelling, which is expected. It can take up to 9 months before you will see the final results from surgery. Until then I encourage you to try to be patient and follow the advice of your surgeon. If a seroma is present your surgeon wil...
What you are describing is a normal part of healing after surgery. Your body is doing a lot of work behind the scenes to heal you from your procedure. The result is that you may feel a lack of energy after only minimal effort. This will improve over time. Take time to rest and let your bod...
