One eyelid is slightly heavier than the other. The upper eyelid crease is caused by an attachment between the eyelid skin and the tendon that raises the upper eyelid, the anterior levator aponeurosis. As this tendon slips, the upper eyelid crease can become duplicated or even multiple. The crease also tends to creep up. To compensate for the heavy eyelid, the brain compensates by raising the eyebrows. This causes a change in the appearance of the face. Surgery is needed to correct the insertion of the tendon and repair the upper eyelid ptosis. This requires both crease lowering surgery and an anterior levator resection ptosis surgery. Please understand that even oculoplastic surgeon who claim to be ptosis specialists do not offer this type of work.
