The choice of scalp closure in a lateral browlift procedure is highly variable. Surgeons are pretty evenly split between surgical clips (staples) and dissolving suture. The advantage of suture is that they typically do not require removal as they will fall out on their own. The upside of clips are that they are quick to apply but do require removal following surgery. Depending upon the length of the incision you might require anywhere from 7-15 surgical clips per side but this is just an educated guess and will depend upon your chosen surgeon's technique of choice. A lateral browlifting procedure can be performed directly via an incision in the lateral/temporal brow. Dissection frees the scalp to move. Deep sutures are placed to achieve lifting. Staples are used to approximate the scalp edges. Staples are used (vs. needle bearing sutures) in hair bearing scalp to minimize damage to hair follicles. In the initial phase after a browlift, brow motion is minimized due to postoperative swelling. However, this usually normalizes after several weeks. Most described browlift procedures do not target the frontal branches of the facial nerve, which are responsible for motion of the...
Staples should not have been the cause of your problem. If your baldness persists after 9 months you will likely need hair transplants or expanded flap reconstruction.
