Is a revision rhinoplasty at 5 /6 months post op too soon? Worried about the risks but unhappy with current results (photos)

I would wait an entire year minimum to think about doing any revisionary procedure. That bump is where the bone was fractured to narrow the nose. Sometimes this does "break" correctly and you can get deformities of the bone. I would definitely see a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty who is also board-eligible or board-certified with training in aesthetic plastic surgery (not an ENT or OMFS).

Hi @km727! I am sorry that you are not happy with your results. I recommend waiting a year before considering a revision rhinoplasty since you can be swollen for up to 12 months. I would also request a second opinion from a facial plastic surgeon that specializes in revision rhinoplasty. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question and photos. Though much of the swelling is reduced within four months, your nose will be in a phase of recovery for at least one year following your rhinoplasty procedure. It is generally suggested to wait until this entire recovery process is complete to consider a revision, even if you’re only interested in shaving down the bump you’re referring to.
Since each subsequent nose surgery becomes more complex due to loss of structural support and scar tissue, the importance of experience, expertise, and artistry cannot be overstated. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, with expertise in rhinoplasty techniques. They will be able to assess your surgical history and concerns to determine the best course of action for you.

The feasibility of revision rhinoplasty at 6 months postop would require an examination. If your tip is still firm and swollen, it may be best to wait 6 more months. If the bump is your only issue, I suspect it's appearance may be improved with a bit of filler, below it in the indentation. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Your operation is so fresh also, the swelling on the nose takes up to 1 year to get down. Aside from that, I think you can benefit from a second rhinoplasty because this shape can be improved greatly. The tip of your nose could've been elevated instead of leaving it a bit droopy. It is a bit pointy which also can be improved. Overall, it is not a bad result but there is definitely room for improvement.

Hi there! At 5 months, many would consider that too early to revise a nose. If it's a targeted procedure such as filing down the bump, then maybe that's ok. If you don't like the outcome after the 10-12 month mark, then a revision may be appropriate. At that time, more swelling will be down and any areas that you don't like can be addressed.
