Is it safe to perform oral sex 1 month post rhinoplasty ?

Hi Titisandnose,I take that you are a woman based on your too big for a license plate number name.  Now as I assume you are well aware, there are two aspects of oral sex,  both giving and receiving.  Lucky receivers of this form of entertainment, you may receive oral sex one month after rhinoplasty if so fortunately inclined.  When it comes, no pun intended, to giving oral sex, the only oral sex giving that is safe one month after rhinoplasty is actually just sticking to talking about it with your frustrated mate.  But as you no doubt know T and N, there is more than one way to skin a cat.  Should you go ahead (pun totally intended this time) and go against this rhinoplasty expert's opinion, then I shall advise you the same as I admonish our rhinoplasty patients who participate in sports that involve balls, "if you do play, make sure that you don't get hit in the nose with any balls!"  Good luck and be well.Michael Persky, MDEncino, CA

One month is adequate time for nose to heal sufficiently  Just be careful and avoid direct impact to your nose and you should be fine. 

With respect to a question of this nature, it is always best to ask the surgeon who did your procedure.

Thank you for your question.As you say, your nose is still tender therefore it may not be wise to undertake such activities as yet. If the bones were broken during your rhinoplasty, remember it takes at least 8 weeks for the bones to completely heal.Hope that helps.Ivo

Dear titisandnose, I would suggest that you speak with your surgeon regarding what your limitations and activities should be at four weeks post surgery. At this early stage of recovery you want to avoid any impact to your nose. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
