Permanent black stitches stuck inside my skin and it's painful.

Thank you for your question.Removing the stitch should be fairly simple with just local anesthesia so you don't feel discomfort (and it's safer to do it this way than with general surgery).  If you can't go to your plastic surgeon, I recommend asking your surgeon for a referral to a local plastic surgeon.  If your surgeon doesn't have a colleague in the area, then look for a board certified plastic surgeon in your area on the ASPS website at plasticsurgery.org, or on RealSelf.  Best of luck!

The suture can be removed under local anesthetic fairly easily, and a local PS should be able to help you out.  You should start by contacting the PS who operated on you, and if he/she is unable to refer, then I'd call one closer to you.  Good luck.

Agree with my colleagues...best to call your operating surgeon. He or she can either provide you with someone local to f/u with or ask you to come see them for suture removal with some local anesthetic. Good luck!!

Many times your surgeon or even you primary care physician can easily remove that stitch with the proper instruments.  If it painful a small amount of local anesthetic should be all you need.  Jane

Your surgeon will be able to remove the stitch for you.  If your surgeon is too far you may ask if he/she has a colleague locally that can assist you. If it is too painful a local anesthetic can be injected.  You will not require general anesthesia to have them removed.

Hi, there.Although removing a buried stitch is not too complicated, it would be best to be seen by a plastic surgeon.  If you cannot see your plastic surgeon, ask him/her for recommendation on a PS near you.The stitch can be removed under local anesthetics.Best regards.

Please call your plastics surgeon!  Chances are she or he has a contingency plan for someone they operate on from out of state to get you looked at. Certainly I can find follow up for my out of town patients anywhere  in the USA. If your surgeon calls ahead you are more likely to get in quickly. As to the emergency room for this? This is not really an emergency and I suspect you will find your self waiting much longer than 6 hours and paying a whole lot of unnecessary money.  Call your surgeon. 

As you are in so much discomfort you should go to emergency room as your doctor is far away from you. you will get some local anesthesia and they will be able to get the stitch out. Best Wishes!
