I asked for an en bloc but the surgeon said he couldn't guarantee one, but would get the entire capsule out with my explant. When I read the post-op report, it only mentioned a "capsulotomy" on the left breast (which was ruptured) and no mention on the right though I was charged for a total capsulectomy. I really like my results, but I question it now. I had NO drains. 35 year silicone implants over the muscle removed with an inverted T lift. Does this sound right?

Answer: Capsulotomy vs Capsulectomy: what is the difference? Capsulotomy: A fine incision is made in the scar tissue capsule. This method is effective not only when the capsule must be removed but also when the pocket of the implant must be re-centered.Capsulectomy: Surgical removal of the scar tissue capsule. This is the most effective method of capsule correction. The implant is either moved to a sub-muscular position or switched with another textured implant. This procedure does not eliminate the probability of the reoccurrence of capsulation but is the most effective method for limiting the recurrence.
