Hi I had rhinoplasty around 4 years ago and the last couple months I noticed the tip of one side of my nose is pretty red. Could it be from surgery even though it’s been this long? I don’t have any grafts, but might have permanent sutures. I have paper thin skin, is there anything that can help?

Answer: You are correct that this may be from a permanent suture. The best advice I could provide is to visit a reputable rhinoplasty specialist. We used to use permanent sutures in the beginning of our practice, and when they have extruded, it has usually been on the inside of the nose, not through the skin. Depending on your examination, sometimes a course of antibiotics may be helpful, and curative. Wishing you well, and I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. This redness may get better on its own or it may be able to be improved with a laser treatment.. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G.
