How can I talk constructively with my surgeon about my rhinoplasty result? (photo)

Question

I had rhinoplasty about a year ago. I'm mostly satisfied – she removed the hump, fixed the crookedness, debulked the tip, repaired the septum, & lifted the tip. But I requested a round tip and it looks pointy from the side. And even though my bridge was deprojected, I think she left my tip overly projected. I like the front view, but the shape of the side profile not so much. She says this is just swelling since I have thick skin. Could filler help? Or do I need to discuss a revision?

It is difficult to advise you since you appear to have a pleasing nasal appearance, and you did not post before photos. Revision rhinoplasty for several millimeters of profile the projection would be a major undertaking, and it's not clear whether or not that would be a wise idea. I hope this helps! As far as I can see from your photos for this reason, revision rhinoplasty will be the most accurate and reliable choice for a permanent solution. It may take 1.5 to 2 years for thick skin to take shape completely, I recommend that you discuss this issue with your surgeon and discuss the procedures for revision rhinoplasty if you are dissatisfied after completing the process.

Thank you for your query. I would ask you to wait a bit longer till your surgeon feels that the swelling is gone. Also if your concerns are not much at that time I would not recommend a revision. All the best!

The only way you can change your tip is by surgery to change the cartilage.  If you want it rounded, fillers will not satisfactory.

In some patients postoperative swelling after rhinoplasty may take very longe time, in same cases 2-2.5 years in our experience. Based on these photos your result seems to be very good (unfortunately no preoperative photos to compare). Further refinements of the tip should wait until all possible swelling is resolved. Filler or a thin sheet of fascia graft may be solution for bulkier tip? Do not rush into revision surgery too early. Good luck.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, a revision is the best way to fix the over projection of your tip. A formal nasal tip deprojection would be extremely beneficial for you and would also help with your nostrils as well. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
