In a 5'7" patient after mastectomy, I frequently consider ultra high profile as the mastectomy has removed some breast tissue obviously and trying to compensate for that in my experience has been done well in taller patients with ultra high profile. Make sure you can see and compare yourself the implants during your office visit- this helps patients actually understand the difference in the implants. Best Wishes!!
Thanks for your inquiry. Both implants can give excellent results. I believe the new ultra-high implants because of there increased projection have become very popular among patients and surgeons. We generally use sizers at the time of expander exchange, etc to see what will fit well and safely. Good Luck.
If you are very narrow and require larger breast implants, then UHP's can be a reasonable choice. Best to be seen in person.
Thanks for your question. Its really hard to discuss volume of implants without an examination. A lot has to do with your breast width and chest contour. However in general in breast reconstruction, getting the highest profile is key. In my practice, I either use ultra high profile round implants or the high profile anatomic implants depending on the patient's desires and anatomy. Good luck.
The best way to pick implants, especially after a mastectomy, is to use the base width of your chest and your tissue expander to get the right size permanent implant. Usually for my patients undergoing breast reconstruction, we favor the shaped silicone implants with high projection although the round implants in either high or ultra high cab work as well. You would need to discuss this in person at your consultation to figure out the best choice for you.
Thanks for your question. Generally, a more projecting implant is better with breast reconstruction. Patient dissatisfaction after reconstruction with implants is usually centered around a lack of projection. I would also recommend that you consider the new extra projection shaped implants from Allergan. These are anatomic implants and will help minimize the "shelf" look of a round implant in the upper pole. Good luck.
Thank you for the question, but online consultants will not have specific enough advice for you to be truly helpful. I would suggest instead that you spend more time communicating your goals carefully with your plastic surgeon. In my practice, I find the use of goal photographs very helpful during this process. Be careful about using cup sizes as a reference; as you know “B or C cup” may mean different things to different people and may potentially be a source of miscommunication. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
Implants are meant to withstand all of the same stresses that you can tolerate. They should not limit your physical activity.
Dear maryjensen, Breast implants contain no latex so they are perfectly safe to use in case of latex allergy. I have had many patients with latex allergies who have undergone breast augmentation surgery without any problems with either saline or silicone gel implants. Good luck with your...
It is unclear from your photos and email if you have ever had surgery on your breasts, but it appears that you have had a breast augmentation on the right breast, and a reduction of mastopexy (breast lift) on your left breast. Breast asymmetry is very common and there are varying degrees in...
