I suggest waiting until you are off pain killers and do not take the wine with antianxiety (valium, xanax etc) medications. Please speak to your physician. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello patriciap8, I appreciate your questions! Plastic surgeons have different post-operative protocols, customized for every patient, to achieve optimal results. I typically recommend my patients stop smoking and drinking alcohol, at least 4 weeks before Liposuction, because these habits will reduce circulation throughout the body, and patients would have a higher risk of post-operative complications. Patients should not drink alcohol for five days after surgery or while they are taking pain medications. Keep yourself hydrated and avoid alcohol, since alcohol is an inflammatory, so it may increase swelling and itching. Staying properly hydrated will help reduce dry skin, which is often the cause for excessive flakiness and itching following liposuction surgery. Good luck and may God bless you! Dr. De La Cruz.
Thanks for your question. Best is to wait until you're finish with the medication to drink alcohol. Usually patients are ok to have a drink after a week or two. Bets is to follow your surgeon's instructions.
Thanks for the question. I advise my patients to start drinking alcohol, coffee 5-7 days after their liposuction operation also you should stop taking any medications such as Aspirin and Vitamins. Therefore you should consult with your surgeon for a reminder form before surgery. I wish you all the best.
I advise my patients to discontinue alcohol consumption starting 2 weeks before surgery until 2 weeks after surgery, so 4 weeks total.
I personally don't have a problem with my patients drinking a glass of wine or so immediately before or after liposuction. However this is an instruction that should come only from your own surgeon.
I have my patients refrain from alcohol 48 hours prior to surgery, and no alcohol after surgery until they have discontinued allpain meds. You should ask your plastic surgeon what his/her policy is regarding alcohol and follow his/her instructions. Good Luck!
As long as you are not taking prescription pain medications, it is ok to have a glass of wine at one to two weeks after surgery. There is no additional evidence that I am aware of that indicates having a glass of wine will adversely affect your results at 1-2 weeks.
Sure, but just don’t mix alcohol with any pain medication or other sedatives but at two weeks you should be returning to all of your usual activities and not be on any other medication.
I recommend you don't drinks alcohol till after you are done with pain medication. 2 weeks sounds like an appropriate time, I recommend you speak with your surgeon for their specific recommendations.
