Can a strained or pulled muscle mimic capsular contracture?

I've had my implants for 3 1/2 months under muscle. I just started going back to the gym and after the last time, I'm pretty sure I over did it. I mean I didn't lift more than 40 lbs and I did it on machines, but the next morning I woke up and my whole body was sore from pushing it too far. My shoulder/ neck was sore like it was pulled. When I got out the shower I noticed in the mirror that my right breast was higher than the left. I called ps, he said to take it easy and take muscle relaxer

Capsular contracture slowly develops over a period of weeks. The discomfort and implant position changes you are describing took place in less than 24 hours. Without seeing you or knowing more about the case, I suspect your PS is correct. Best to let everything heal from the workout before making any judgments. Thanks for your question!

Hi QueenB29It is often challenging to discern between a contracture and muscle injury.  In your case, given the immediate temporal relationship between the strain and the breast pain and change in appearance, my vote would be for the latter.Obviously a muscle strain will lead to pain.  It will also lead to muscle spasm which will cause that implant to move up, like right after surgery.I would give your doctor's treatment a try, along with NSAID's for additional pain relief and inflammation reduction.If this condition is in fact due to injury, it will self-resolve.  If this is a contracture, it will likely progress at worst, or stay the same.  If it is a contracture, there are some medical things that can be don.In the future, be sure to warm up and stretch out- a lot before exercise or you will likely injure yourself again.
