Is breast augmentation safe while on Methadone?

Will a dr be comfortable working on me being that I'm prescribed methadone. I have had an operation removing my left ovary and was given narcotics with no problems so I know that I can do it, but will the Dr and staff be able to not only treat me safely but also respectfully. I have had nursing staff treat me differently once I told them and that always makes me cautious about it now.

In general, patients on methadone can make good candidates for breast augmentation. Good communication with your plastic surgeon is important and it is best to have some plan ahead of time regarding postoperative pain control. The most simple approach is to just use ibuprofen postoperatively, but narcotics can safely supplement this with close direction by your plastic surgeon.

Many patients are on Methadone for different reasons. Most doctors are understandable and are comfortable with patients on this medication. During your consultation, be honest and open with your doctor, especially about the amount you take and the length of time you have taken it. You may need to discuss what pain medication will be used. You should be able to have a very safe and comfortable procedure.
