Is it possible to still have a square-like face or defined jawline after masseter botox?

if you want more definition on the jawline botox masseter is not the treatment. for facial slimming

most of my younger patients do buccal fat pad reduction, facetite/liposuction of the neck, and fillers to chin/cheeks/jawline/temples,  to give them a more chiseled face.  see my IG and links. at home derma-rolling should be started to Improve texture and tone and tightening along jawline (see link where we have a recommended daily skincare and weekly MTS + anteageMD derma-rolling protocol).

For facial slimming a combination of treatments are always needed. Options include:

1. Buccal fat pad removal to reduce fat on the lower face
2. Factite or Renuvion/J Plasma to tighten the lower face, jawline, and chin to reduce fat and give the jawline and neck tightening and shaping.
3. Botox to the masseter to reduce the muscular size of the jaw giving the face an illusion of being more slender
4. Fillers to the jawline, chin, cheeks, temples and brow help to shape the face and make it more angled and defined

most of my younger patients consider...
5. deep microneelding RF like morpheus every 2-3 months forever to further improvement tightening
6. early face/neck lift if you want a really tight contour and the most extreme improvement in jawline and neck shaping
7. threads, PDO or Instalift, after neck surgery/facetite to further improve the outcomes and give them long term collagen production and shaping
8. Thermage (radio frequency heating) and Ultherapy (ultrasound muscle tightening) yearly to prevent sagging in the future

Thank you for sharing your question. If you are looking to get masseter Botox for some form of symptoms - clenching, grinding, TMJ - then you can replace any "lost" volume with fillers to maintain a more defined jawline. Hope this helps.

Hi there, Botox is a great treatment for facial slimming. 30-40 units are required per side and 3-4 treatments are required to achieve facial slimming. In terms of maintaining a well defined face, it is difficult for me to assess what is possible without seeing you.

Botox placed in the masseter muscle will slim the appearance of this muscle. It will not affect your bone structure. If your jaw anatomy is more square in shape, this will remain unchanged with the Botox treatment.

Hi,You could still maintain a natural face and shape after masseter botox injection. This treatment has the ability to reduce the protrusion of the masseter muscle and will tone down the shape of the area, but won't make your face round or another shape. You will rather appreciate your facial structure post-treatment, 4-10days. It's safe and effective when done right with at least 40-60units botox.

Botox to the masseter will change your facial appearance from a square to slightly more a V simply by reducing how wide the back side of your jaw is. The jawline will not be affected however and I notice that it can even be enhanced with masseter botox. Hope this helps!

Good question. As long as your skeletal anatomy of the face allows you to have a square jawline, you will maintain that despite the fact that your masseter muscle will be reduced in size by means of botox injections. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery

We would always recommend a face to face consultation to get an accurate idea of treatment however in this case Masseter botox is used to slim the muscle bulk on the jawline down. Filler is best for building definition to sharpen the jawline- if your goal is to sculpt the face you may also want to consider non surgical devices such as ultracel that can help shape and sculpt the face.
