I would like to know how long the dilluted sculptra should be used? Can just one vial of sculptra be dilluted, then keep frozen, so that the dilluted sculptra could be used sparingly for three treatments. Is it safe? Thank you.
Answer: Can Sculptra vial be frozen to be used for three treatments? Once a vial of Sculptra has been diluted with sterile water, the manufacturer recommends using it within 72 hours. Additionally, the vial should not be frozen. So, I would not freeze a vial and use it over three treatments. Also, a third of a vial is a very small amount, and it is unlikely that that amount would be enough to treat a patient in a single treatment session.

Answer: Keeping Sculptra frozen so it can be used for multiple treatments? I don't think that keeping Sculptra frozen is good for the product and outcomes are hard to predict if this were done. If you want 3 small doses of Sculptra, the provider might be able to use a partial vial and charge accordingly. At the follow up visit for repeat injection, I would recommend drawing from a different vial. I would not store the same vial for 4-6 weeks. There could be a sterility issue as well which will lead to chronic problems. There is almost always a place to inject the remainder of a vial if the provider only sells a whole vial at a time.

Answer: Diluting and saving sculptra Thank you for your question. I never inject less than one full vial of Sculptra and the majority of the time inject 2 vials with most patient visits. Injection of 1/3 vial is going to have a negligible result and will be difficult to assess its effectiveness. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Answer: Diluting and Saving Sculptra Sculptra was designed to be dissolved in sterile water at various concentrations, The concentration may differ and is often determined by the injection site. The less Sculptra injected, the less the skin response is. Using just one vial of Sculptra for three separate sessions (presuming the same area is being treated) suggests the area being treated must be very small and have very subtle volume loss. If this were the case, using a biodegradable hyaluronic acid filler would seem more appropriate. Your physician will determine the best course of action and should be experienced in the use of Sculptra. He/she should be able to discuss the amount and number of treatments anticipated. Dilution and frequency of injection issues are best handled by an experienced physician, preferably a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
