2 weeks after rhinoplasty and my nose still looks big? (photo)

Question

I did rhinoplasty (ear cartilage placement to the tip, silicon to nose bridge and side nasal lift ) 2 weeks ago. But now just 2 weeks after surgery my nose still looks bulbous (I know it's still swollen) but it doesn't look like my tip will reduce any much more. I want to know is tip reduction surgery the best choice for my bulbous nose and will the size of my nose tip reduce more after swelling is gone or is it just gonna be just as big? Wanting to have tip reduction next year around April.

It is very common for a nose not only to look big after rhinoplasty, but even to look bigger than your original nose. This is because of the swelling. It can be frustrating to go through rhinoplastic surgery and still have a “big” nose, but it is not a permanent condition. You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose take its time to heal. I hope this helps.

years for the swelling to go completely down. Don't stress. Be patient and
allow your body to heal. If you have any concerns follow up with your surgeon.

Thank you for your question. Without a thorough examination it is difficult to give you specific advice on your situation, but I can give you some comfort. Be patient. It takes several months for the edema in the nose to resolve after surgery. Continue to follow-up with your surgeon and follow their post-operative regimen for your convalescence. Your situation will most likely improve.

With any nasal surgery, the name of the game is patience. At one week, we would expect you to have quite a bit of swelling and bruising still noticeable. By the end of two weeks, typically, you will still be swollen but look more like you have a bad cold, rather than post surgical. Swelling can take up to a year to be completely gone, however, by 9 weeks you will look very good and should see big difference from your pre-op pics. I encourage you to stay patient.
