Thanks for your question- Grafts made from your own cartilage rarely get infected. Use of other materials carry a higher risk of graft infection. The first sign of graft infection is increased pain. Swelling, redness, fever, chills, and extrusion can follow. Puss can also be seen often times during an infection. Nasal graft infection is associated with swelling, oozing, and redness. It will be very evident and will follow with graft extrusion.
Signs and symptoms of infection after rhinoplasty include significant swelling, redness, pain, fevers, chills, and possible drainage from the wounds.
