Can tear trough injections “settle” or migrate to upper cheekbone?

I got 1 syringe of restalyn in tear trough area for fat loss under eye and severe dark circles. The surgeon I went to specializes in eyes, and charged $2,000. After the horrible bruises went away it looked good. Then, 2 weeks later the filler settled on top of my cheekbones making a worse hollow under my eyes. I went back 4 mo. later and he injected more filler. The 2nd time it did the same thing and looks bad! What should I do? I don’t want him to “fix it” again. Suggestions? What went wrong?

Thank you for sharing your question. The area of the lower eyelid is a delicate and potentially dangerous area to fill. Make sure your doctor is an experienced Oculoplastic Surgeon when using fillers in this area. Many serious issues have been referred to me. It is not possible to determine what your problem is without in-person consultation, but the good news is the Restylane can be dissolved.Good luck,

Thank you for your question.  The tear trough area is an extremely delicate area to treat.  It is very important that all aftercare instructions are followed and that proper technique is used when injecting.  
It certainly could be possible that the filler has migrated from the tear trough to the cheek.  However, it is not easy to determine without photos or an in person consultation.  I would encourage you to follow up with your physician or another experienced injector. That way the cause can be determined and the best plan of action. Best of luck!
