Is coverage to correct tubular breast deformity in BC, Canada?

tuberous breasts are considered a cosmetic deformity and they are usually not covered by insurance. However, there might be some exceptions in Canada. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

WarriorQueen22 I completely understand your concern and frustration regarding tuberous breasts, as they truly are a deformity, in my opinion. Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not take the same stance. They fall back on the absurd notion that if there is not a functional problem, reconstruction is unnecessary. I am not certain about insurance benefits in Canada, however. Best to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to explore your options. Good luck.

Sometimes you can get a sympathetic surgeon to help you argue your case and calling the ministry of health, sending photos may help. Most of the time the health budgets are very tight for many operations for cancer, etc and your appeals fall on deaf ears. As well, "insurance" pays a few hundred dollars and it is difficult for a private facility to cover their costs, and this often impacts a surgeon's decision to work for "insurance" cases, especially in Canada.
