How long after 1 syringe of Juvederm should you wait to do a second?

I have extremely thin lips and I recently had my first syringe of Juvederm done. I actually liked the size they were when swollen, and 2 weeks later they have went down drastically. While there is a difference, there isn't as much as one as I would have liked. I am considering another syringe? How long should I wait, and what is the realistic upkeep for someone such as myself with such thin lips. Will I require more frequent visits?

Thank you for sharing your question about Juvederm. In my practice, I advise my patients to wait a full 2 weeks before following up to get more filler. This is because, as you mentioned, lip fillers can create swelling, which can temporarily exaggerate your result. Once the swelling has settled after several weeks, your true result will be visible. I recommend following up with your injector after the two week mark to discuss adding more filler. If your lips are very thin, a second syringe may offer you the volume you are looking for. I would recommend waiting at least 2 weeks, after the one syringe of Juvederm was placed in your lips, before considering adding more.  Juvederm in the lips will last a matter of months, so you will most likely need to return for treatment after several months.

for a second filler is when the swelling and bruises are probably resolved,
which takes about 2 weeks. Juvederm can last up to 6 months, however, it more
likely to break down due to continuous movement of the facial areas injected. I

I always tell my patients to wait 2 weeks before receiving another syringe of Juvederm to ensure any post-injection swelling has resolved.  This will allow a more accurate assessment.  Always seek treatment from a qualified phycsician.

I would wait at least 2 weeks after filler to have all the swelling and bruising to subside prior to adding a second syringe if not adding it the same day as the first.  Once placed the filler immediately starts to slowly break down and will be completely or nearly gone after 1 year.  To maintain results you could add a syringe every 4.5 - 6 month to replace the lost volume.

You should wait two weeks after injection before considering additional product in order for all bruising and swelling to subside.  Once you achieve the desired volume occasional touch ups can be done approximately every 4-6 months depending on how your body metabolizes the product.

Thank you for your excellent question.  I recommend waiting 2 weeks to allow for normal postprocedure swelling to fully resolve and to see your final result.  At that point, if you have concerns, please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best treatment plan.  More product can certainly be added to achieve your desired result.  Once your desired result is achieved, you will likely need a touch-up every 6-9 months, depending on how your body metabolizes the product.  Hope this helps and best wishes!
