I had my 325cc silicon subglandular implants removed about 6 months ago. This was my second set of implants and I hated them both times. The first were 450cc submuscular saline. Getting breast implants is my greatest regret in life and I feel it has ruined my chest. The PS that removed them doesn't recommend fat transfer. This process/outcome has left me so distraught that I went for a consult to have a flat-closure mastectomy. Is reimplant the only way to fix my disfigured chest?
Answer: Chest concavity options Hello, thank you for your vulnerability in posting this question. I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It sounds like you've been through a lot with your breast surgeries and that you're in a touch place emotionally and physically. I have attached a detailed video that specifically answers your question. Other alternatives to re-implanting include prosthetics or external devices if you're not looking to have additional surgeries as well as physical therapy to strengthen and reshape the muscles around the chest area. Your feelings of regret and distress are completely valid. Considering the emotional impact of these procedures, it might be beneficial to seek support groups for people who have had similar experiences. Sometimes discussing your feelings with others who understand can provide comfort and perspective. If you're leaning toward a flat-closure mastectomy, consulting with a surgeon who specializes in this procedure is essential; however, it is not my recommendation to have a flat-closure as I have explained in the video. It is crucial to gather as much information as possible and consider seeking multiple opinions before making a final decision. Each option has its own set of benefits and drawbacks, and finding the right approach will depend on your personal goals and needs.

Answer: Chest concavity post-implant removal Dear Kelly Cookie, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You might be able to get fat transfer if you want to avoid implants. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Chest concavity post-implant removal - is reimplant the only way to fix my disfigured chest? Hello @Kelly Cookie, Thank you for your question. Sometimes, breast implant removal can result in alterations to the chest wall or breast tissue, such as indentations. This is typically more apparent in women with larger implants, as the larger the implant, the more it may alter the natural anatomy over time. However, it depends on the specialist surgical technique and procedures determined to be used in order to achieve an adequate result. I always approach a breast explant with immediate aesthetic reconstruction to reposition the mammary tissue and improve projection of the upper pole and medial areas using the BRALAN Technique (Breast Reconstruction Anatomical Lift Augmentation), since the results will be adequate in terms of aesthetics and have a minimal scar in the shape of an L and a lift if needed. To shed more light on this, I have attached a video. If you are considering a breast procedure, consultation with a plastic surgeon experienced in this procedure is essential to ensuring optimal results. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
