Is 5 cc nano fat in each lip too much?

Based on our 25 years of experience with fat grafting, using different techniques, lip augmentation with fat grafts turned out to be the least successful and predictable. I usually say to my patients that only about 10-15% of injected fat would be taken; very rarely I am wrong. Most frequently we use fillers for small lip augmentation/shaping. Hope this helps.

Facial fat transfer is inherently, unpredictable, imprecise, and can be unforgiving in regards to the final outcome. It’s an area where a substantial fat loss is most often the case. While lip tissue is highly vascular, it is also very dynamic and in order for fat to become revascularized and survive. It generally needs to be immobilized in order for the very delicate budding new capillaries to grow into the grafted particles. Most people keep their lips, plenty active by speaking, eating, and doing other things. This is not ideal for fat grafting host tissue. HA fillers are the treatment of choice for consistent quality results.
